Steven S. Simpson

Chair

Steven S. Simpson is managing partner of CoastEdge Partners, and has worked in the financial services industry for over 25 years. Prior to CoastEdge Partners, Simpson co-founded and served as president and managing partner of Gurtin Municipal Bond Management, a $14 billion investment management firm that was acquired by PIMCO in 2019. Simpson previously worked at Morgan Stanley in Chicago and California, focusing on fixed income portfolio management. Prior to Morgan Stanley, he was a manager at Accenture where he advised multiple Fortune 500 financial services firms.

Simpson has also served as Chairman of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) San Diego chapter, and has chaired the Investment and Finance Committees for the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance. 

Simpson earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Kansas, where he served as class president, and a MBA in Finance and Strategy from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He and his wife, Lauren, have three sons.
