Rose Parade & San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance
Inspiring Allies Worldwide
30 Years of History
The Pasadena Tournament of Roses® is a cherished tradition that allows us to share our conservation message with over 50 million viewers in more than 170 countries. Through this larger-than-life opportunity, our stories of hope and inspiration touch the hearts of wildlife allies around the world. Conservation starts with connection, and our participation invites a global audience to join us in making a meaningful difference for wildlife, people, and the planet we all share.
In both 2024 and 2025, we won the prestigious Sweepstakes Award for the most beautiful entry, encompassing float design, floral presentation, and entertainment. Our 2023 entry received the Animation Award for outstanding use of animation.
2025
“Friendship Across the Earth”
This year, we honored the historic return of giant pandas to the San Diego Zoo. Yun Chuan and Xin Bao were the first pandas to enter the United States in 21 years, offering universal hope in our ever-changing world.
2024
“It Began With A Roar”
We roared into 2024 featuring iconic wildlife from the San Diego Zoo’s 107-year history. Atop the float was Rex the lion, whose mighty roar sparked a dream more than a century ago and inspired the Zoo’s founding.
2023
“Celebrating 50 Years of Conservation”
In 2023, we celebrated the San Diego Zoo Safari Park’s 50th anniversary and the life-changing moments that happen there every day. The Safari Park’s founding transformed the future of conservation—and our world—forever. There’s simply no place like it on Earth.
2022
“Creating Wildlife Allies”
We represented our past, present, and future in wildlife conservation with a lion, California condor, and rhino. The theme brought to life our commitment to a world where all life thrives, and our collaboration with partners across our eight global Conservation Hubs.
1996
“Party Time”
During our Rose Parade debut, we commemorated the San Diego Zoo’s 80th birthday and new hippo habitat opening. This kicked off a yearlong “Celebration of the World” that showcased various wildlife species and cultures from six continents. Best of all, we made history as the first zoo to ever participate in the parade!
