Making a Memorial or Tribute Gift
Donations to San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance can be an incredible way to honor or remember a loved one. All gifts create a lasting impact and allow us to continue our mission of saving species worldwide.
A memorial gift remembers and recognizes the legacy of a loved one who has passed. If you want to direct family and friends to make gifts to San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance, the following is suggested wording for an obituary:
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance in memory of {deceased name}, online at sdzwa.org/memorial or mailed to San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance, P.O. Box 120551, San Diego, CA 92112.
A tribute donation is a wonderful way to commemorate a special occasion such as a birthday, wedding, graduation, holiday, retirement, or other celebrations and accomplishments.

Recognition Options
Physical recognition opportunities for memorials and tributes are available at the San Diego Zoo or San Diego Zoo Safari Park for gifts of $1,200 or more, as described below.

- Gifts of $1,200 or more: Recognition opportunities can include name listings on group plaques at current capital projects.
- Gifts of $5,000 or more: Recognition opportunities for memorial gifts can include individual plaques on the memorial towers at the Safari Park.
- Gifts $10,000 or more: Recognition opportunities can include individual markers (comparable to a small brick) at current capital projects and a few other select areas.
- Gifts of $50,000 or more: Recognition opportunities can include benches at capital projects or in select locations (very limited availability).
- More prominent recognition may be available at our current capital projects. Please contact us for details.
Timelines for installation of recognition vary. Opportunities are subject to availability. Depending on which option you choose, you may have the choice to pledge your gift over a period of time.
Receipt of Gifts
When you make a memorial or tribute donation, you will receive a receipt acknowledging your gift. If you choose, we will also notify the individual(s) being honored or a family member of your loved one who has passed, informing them of your gift but keeping the amount of your gift confidential.
