Oceans are the lifeblood of our planet and cover more than 70 percent of the Earth’s surface. But human exploitation and environmental threats – including climate change, overharvest of fish, plastic pollution, and chemical runoff – are altering the balance of our delicate marine ecosystems.
Over 2,000 oceanic species are listed as endangered or threatened. San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance helps conserve wildlife that make their home near or in our oceans. We partner with conservationists and local communities to protect and save polar bears in the Arctic, African penguins in Southern Africa, and other vulnerable marine life.
