"Toss the Tusk" with us at the San Diego Zoo on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. as we come together to create hope for wildlife around the world. Guests will have the opportunity to help save wildlife by contributing wildlife products, including ivory, to the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ (AZA) “Toss the Tusk” campaign.
Toss the Tusk
New Hope for Wildlife
In partnership with the AZA and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, we will accept wildlife products from the community at the San Diego Zoo on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. The collection of these items helps reduce the demand for wildlife products which is driving wildlife trafficking worldwide. Together, through this effort, we can give new hope to endangered species by creating a future free from wildlife trafficking.
Guests who wish to participate in "Toss the Tusk" may bring their items to the San Diego Zoo. Admission is not necessary to participate.

Conservation Hubs
Our approach to sustainable and effective long-term conservation all begins at the San Diego Zoo and San Diego Zoo Safari Park, fueling our efforts across eight conservation hubs around the globe.
In every conservation hub, we protect and restore biodiversity—which includes animals and plants—by working with partners, using science-based conservation strategies, and collaborating with local communities to safeguard nature and the planet we all share.
