Kathleen Cain Carrithers retired in 2020 as senior vice president and chief financial officer of Rady Children’s Hospital and Health Center in San Diego. In her career, she has served as a healthcare CFO for a variety of hospitals, both public and private. Her career within California includes experience as CFO at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, Oakland; Saint Agnes Medical Center, Fresno; Eden Medical Center, Castro Valley; and Community Hospital Sonoma County, Santa Rosa. For six years, she was a regional CFO responsible for three public hospitals in Hawaii.
Carrithers has served as a director of the Northern California and Hawaii Chapters of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and is a past president of the Northern California Chapter. She also served on the National Advisory Council, has been an active participant in HFMA’s Thought Leadership program, and completed the HFMA Executive Program. Carrithers served two years on the California Hospital Association Board.
She is actively involved in the American Cancer Society, and served as a board member and former secretary/treasurer of their California Division. Carrithers holds a master of healthcare administration degree from Ohio State University and a bachelor of arts degree from Indiana University.
