Centennial Throwback: A Bear Named Caesar

Caesar, a one-year-old brown bear, was one of the Zoo’s first new animal additions in 1917. Prior to her arrival, Caesar spent her earlier days living as a mascot aboard a Navy ship, until one fateful rampage forced the sailors to donate her to the new San Diego Zoo.
