After two years of success with an online “crowdsourcing” effort to help track giraffes in Kenya, San Diego Zoo Global is launching a new citizen science program in Southern California—inviting the public to help save an important bird species in San Diego County by classifying photos online.
Chimpanzees are well known for their extraordinary diversity of behaviors—including using tools for hunting or digging, cracking nuts with stones and using moss as a water-drawing sponge—with some behaviors also exhibiting cultural variation.

Young patients, their families and invited guests were treated to a visit with some amazing animal ambassadors—including a hedgehog, a great horned owl, and a blue and gold macaw from the Sacramento Zoo—at a gathering at UC Davis Children’s Hospital earlier today (Jan. 10, 2019).
