On Aug. 6, 2020, the world’s first successfully cloned Przewalski’s horse was born in Texas at the veterinary facility of a ViaGen Equine collaborator, Timber Creek Veterinary. The foal, born to a domestic surrogate mother, is a clone of a male Przewalski’s horse whose DNA was cryopreserved 40 years ago at the San Diego Zoo Global (SDZG) Frozen Zoo®. 

A splendid sunbird chick that hatched on July 21 has been successfully reared at San Diego Zoo's Conrad Prebys Africa Rocks Aviary—a first for this tiny African species at the Zoo. 

The San Diego Zoo Safari Park is offering free admission to all active firefighters throughout the month of September, to honor the hard-working men and women who help protect people, wildlife and structures across the region.
