SAN DIEGO (Dec. 19, 2023) – For more than a decade, the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance’s entomology team has collaborated with Australia’s Melbourne Zoo to maintain populations of the critically endangered Lord Howe Island stick insect. For the first time in North America, visitors to the San Diego Zoo will have the opportunity to see these rare, nocturnal insects in a specialized habitat at the Zoo’s Wildlife Explorers Basecamp.

SAN DIEGO (July 14, 2023) – San Diego’s wildest tasting event returns to the San Diego Zoo on September 23, when more than 3,000 attendees will enjoy sampling a multitude of mouthwatering menu items and refreshing beverages from more than 100 restaurants, dessert shops, brewers, wineries and other vendors. The San Diego Zoo Food, Wine & Brew Celebration is a yearly gala that serves up fun, entertainment, food and beverages.
SAN DIEGO (May 19, 2023) – Bedtime can wait this summer, when the San Diego Zoo brings back its annual after-dark extravaganza—Nighttime Zoo. From May 26 through Sept. 4, guests can explore the Zoo at night and enjoy a host of family friendly entertainment, live toe-tapping music and extraordinary summer treats, while learning more about wildlife from an unusual nighttime perspective.
SAN DIEGO (May 11, 2023) – From Arabian oryx to Nubian ibex, to spotted turtles and Amur leopard cubs, the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park are brimming with babies! A spring baby boom provides guests to both the Zoo and Safari with the opportunity to see and learn about amazing wildlife including an okapi calf, a Matschie’s tree kangaroo and Przewalski’s horse at the Safari Park and Andean bear cubs, Lord Howe Island stick insects and Fijian iguanas at the Zoo.
SAN DIEGO (March 3, 2023) – San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance hosted a “Toss the Tusk” event at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park earlier today, to help raise awareness about the devastating effects of elephant poaching. The event, organized by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Wildlife Trafficking Alliance (AZA WTA) and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), encouraged the public to surrender unwanted ivory products to help ensure that their availability will not drive demand for the product
