Students have the unique opportunity to meet professionals working for the San Diego Zoo, Safari Park, and Institute for Conservation Research, learn about jobs, and then blog about their experience online. Follow their adventures here on the Zoo’s website!
Anyone that knows me well knows that I can be quirky at times and quite the talker, but also overflowing with love and passion. My passion and love for wild animals has been with me almost my entire life. As a little girl, my favorite place to go was the San Diego Zoo. Being a Koala Club member since I could walk, I basically had the map memorized by the time I was eight! Particularly, I became fascinated with African species of mammals and large cats at the Zoo’s Safari Park. After countless rides on the African Tram seeing my favorite animal enclosures, my animal passion expanded immensely. When I was old enough, I started bringing a camera with me on my visits to the Zoo and photographing the animals. Photographing the animals is quickly becoming another one of my passions: wildlife photography. My bedroom is covered with photos taken from my safaris, and even has a jungle theme right down to the piles of stuffed animals lining the walls. Now at the age of 17 and entering my senior year of high school, my love for wildlife has greatly impacted my intended college majors. I look forward to studying zoology, wildlife conservation, and environmental science as well as doing field research as a part of my studies. I was ecstatic when I discovered the San Diego Zoo InternQuest program. InternQuest gives me an opportunity to meet some amazing people and explore careers surrounding the fascinating wildlife that the San Diego Zoo holds.
In addition to my wildlife hobbies, I love to play soccer, compete in track and field, and participate in any artistic activity; photography being my favorite. I love everything I do, and I look forward strengthening my passion with the InternQuest program, and sharing my wonderful experiences through my blogs. Stay tuned!
