SAN DIEGO (March 3, 2023) – San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance hosted a “Toss the Tusk” event at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park earlier today, to help raise awareness about the devastating effects of elephant poaching. The event, organized by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Wildlife Trafficking Alliance (AZA WTA) and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), encouraged the public to surrender unwanted ivory products to help ensure that their availability will not drive demand for the product
SAN DIEGO (July 14, 2022) — The San Diego Zoo Safari Park has welcomed three new residents: 8-year-old female African lions Malika, Zuri and Amira from the Caldwell Zoo in Texas. The three lions, who are sisters, curiously explored their new home at Lion Camp earlier today—shyly at first, but soon showing great confidence as they became comfortable with their new surroundings.
SAN DIEGO (June 23, 2022) – The San Diego Zoo recently welcomed the birth of a ring-tailed lemur infant at the Zoo’s Conrad Prebys Africa Rocks Madagascar Forest habitat. The female infant was born May 22 to first-time lemur mother, Rindra. Wildlife care specialists report the infant is doing very well, nursing properly and gaining weight.
