Zoo InternQuest is a seven-week career exploration program for San Diego County high school juniors and seniors. Students have the unique opportunity to meet professionals working for the San Diego Zoo, Safari Park, and Institute for Conservation Research, learn about their jobs, and then blog about their experience online. Follow their adventure here on the Zoo’s website! sarahz_profileI have had a passion for science since I was old enough to go to the library with my mother. When other kids my age would be watching the latest Disney show, I was busying myself catching up on the latest episode of Zoboomafoo. My passion for biology emerged from my obsession with fluffy tigers and alien-like insects. I rediscovered that passion recently after taking AP Biology. While my peers complained about genetics and learning about the biodiversity in the Galapagos, I listened to each lecture attentively, soaking up all the information I could get. My passion for the creatures that inhabit our planet was rediscovered, and I planned on pursuing it. So, when the opportunity arose to intern at the San Diego Zoo, I jumped on it.When I’m not geeking out over animals or studying for my numerous high school courses, I spend my time playing guitar, in theater, or planning events for my school. I’m always trying to find new ways to express my creative side, whether it be painting, playing music, or acting. I am thrilled to start my internship at the Zoo. I’m hoping to discover what exactly goes on in the field of wildlife conservation and possible career paths I can follow in the future. I am looking forward to what this internship offers and all that I am going to learn! Sarah Fall Session 2016
