SAN DIEGO (Aug. 10, 2023) – San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance has announced construction is officially underway on the largest and most transformative project in the San Diego Zoo Safari Park’s 50-year history. The all-new Denny Sanford Elephant Valley will reimagine the heart of the Safari Park, turning the current elephant environment into a dynamic savanna and a place of exploration. Elephant Valley will give guests of all ages the opportunity to connect with elephants like never before, encouraging greater empathy, understanding, and appreciation of this majestic species—and igniting a passion for wildlife.

SAN DIEGO (May 19, 2023) – Bedtime can wait this summer, when the San Diego Zoo brings back its annual after-dark extravaganza—Nighttime Zoo. From May 26 through Sept. 4, guests can explore the Zoo at night and enjoy a host of family friendly entertainment, live toe-tapping music and extraordinary summer treats, while learning more about wildlife from an unusual nighttime perspective.

SAN DIEGO (Aug. 18, 2022) – It’s that time of year again! The San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park are celebrating the fall season with a month full of fun for the whole family. Throughout the entire month of October, youths ages 11 and younger will receive free admission to both wildlife parks and can take part in special weekend activities, including unique entertainment, culinary treats and one-of-a-kind encounters with amazing wildlife.
SAN DIEGO (Aug. 4, 2022) — The San Diego Zoo has announced the birth of a Linnaeus’s two-toed sloth at the Zoo’s new Denny Sanford Wildlife Explorers Basecamp. The baby sloth was born June 25 to mother Xena (pronounced Zee-na), who was born at the Zoo in 2013 and is one of the Zoo’s most popular Rady wildlife ambassadors. Wildlife care specialists report that the young sloth is doing well, instinctively clinging to its mother, nursing and gaining strength each day.
